Birdsong Ceramics

Helayne has been working with clay and beads since she was a child.  She moved to the Vineyard in 1987 after earning a BFA in Ceramics from Syracuse University.

Helayne strives to combine beauty and function in both her pottery and beadwork.  Her wheel-thrown ceramics are designed for daily life and are glazed in layers of sea-inspired color.  The pottery is dishwasher and microwave safe.

Helayne also creates sparkling beaded barrettes which are jewels for the hair.  She uses glass seed beads and Austrian crystals in her barrettes.  She beads these precious materials onto French findings to capture and reflect light.
